adding 80-90 to my lower end

i have a 1982 7.5 h.p evinrude, i just changed the lube in it i let it settle and it's not up to the vent plug. i used a valvoline 80-90 marine product, i have some lube in another bottle johnson 80-90 can i top it off with that stuff ? i know you not saposta mix but this seems harmless......thanks

Different brands of 80/90 outboard gear oil should mix Ok

Funny that its not full after standing. Did you fill it via the bottom plug as recommended or have you been trying to fill via the level plug.

it's not like i'm gonna add 3-4 oz's.. if i'm gonna add a 1/2 oz or so .
