Re: Adding a charging system electric start
Does the flywheel on your motor have teeth on the outside for the starter to engage?
There were 3 flywheels that year: no teeth, 74 teeth and 76 teeth. That would be the first thing to try to get. Which starter to get depends on which flywheel is found. The 76 gets a 9-tooth starter, while the 74 gets an 11 tooth starter.
Then you'd need the starter bracket, solenoid, and switch.
Charging system would need a stator and rectifier.
None of this is cheap, by the way. The easiest way is to find a trashed electric start engine and rob it of parts.
