Adding a fuse block - Location?

So I'm preparing to put in a new dash, with new gauges and carling switches. I'm also upgrading my stereo, and want to straighten out some of the DIY wiring that's been done over the last 26 yrs.

Currently, the fuses are the glass type, screw-in holders mounted just above the switches (see this thread for a pic). I want a cleaner dash, and want to use a fuse block (Blue Sea 12 Ciruit with ground). I can install this under the helm, or I can install it on the backside of the helm area inside the cabin. Option one (under the helm) is more convenient then inside the cabin, but not as weather protected. I like the idea of the weather protection afforded by cabin installation, but not sure if that's the best location. What say you?

I would go with the location that gives you the shorter wiring runs to the accessories. Under the helm is perfectly fine.

That's just it; it's the same distance. To mount it in the cabin, it'll go on the bulkhead that is the backside of the helm.

The difference between the 2 locales comes down to this; one is closer to access from the helm (bend/kneel down), the other is more protected but I have to go into the cabin. I'm leaning towards the cabin, unless there's a reason not to?

It sounds like the cabin is the way to go if less bending is involved. But I've got a bum knee, YMMV!:)
