Adding a Kicker, Need some tips

I have a 18' v bass boat. I am planning on adding a kicker, most likely a 9.9hp 4 stroke. Currently there is a 70hp VRO 1989 Johnson engine.

If I T off the existing fuel line, do I need to add a fuel filter or a fuel check valve so each engine does not affect the other?

Thanks!

Using a T will provide fuel to both engines at same time, but only the engine that's runing will be sipping gas, while the shut engine won't. Could install a T after a water separator system.

It's a device you have to buy as spare, does your 70 horse has one ? It's a round filter screwed to a metal base that generally screws to transom, check...

I have a second fuel source. Thought about using the same tank with a valve but decided to have seperate tank for possible, not likely, but possible contamination problems and I buy the cheapest ethanol fuel for my old 115 and the alcohol free good stuff for my 2012 9.9 merc pro-kicker. Use a valve not just a tee, you don't want one engine sucking fuel out of the other one which even with check valves could happen and cause problems with both engines.

Put a good fuel filter on it and it will have two outlets, one for each motor.
The squeeze ball for each motor goes between the filter and the motor, no other tee's, valves or other things are needed.

So T fuel line, each fuel line goes to a squeeze ball, then a fuel filter, and then motor?

He means a water fuel separator that bolts to hull. It will have two outlets for fuel lines.
