Hello,

I couldn't find a forum that would deal with this specific topic so I posted here. If this is the wrong forum please let me know. I currently have a twin engine cruiser that has 2 80 gallon tanks and a Kohler 5k genset. The genset is currently only pulling from the starboard tank and it is getting annoying. I would like the ability to switch tanks that the genset can pull from. My thought is to add a manual fuel valve and run a new fuel pickup line to the port side tank. Has anyone done this before, and if so are there any gotcha's that I should consider? I plan on using the same size fuel line and finding a decent manual valve (any suggestions on brand / type).

Thanks for any inputs you may have.

So long as you have an additional fitting to accommodate another fuel line then I don't see an issue. You don't want to draw from the same line as the engine. Use an approved fuel line valve and USCG approved A1 fuel line, make sure it is secured with clamps and has an anti-siphon valve at the tank.
Just my opinion
