Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been on the forum. Generally speaking, i have not had the time to work on my boat since i bought it 2 years ago, which is part of the reason why i haven't been on. But i finally got her going this year and I'm sure to be hitting the waters soon. However, before i do so i was wondering if it were possible to add a tachometer to my boat so i can have a better understanding of what my engine is doing. The engine is a 2 stroke 1982 60 HP Evinrude, Model# (E60ELCIA). If possible, where and how do i go about hooking it up..? The boat's control box is a ( Evinrude Power Pilot) if that helps at all. Also, I'm looking for more of a dial style tachometer. Any help is appreciated.

On the remote under the key is there a plug in port. If so that is where a tach would plug into. Most on line seller including iboat should have the cable that plugs in.

Just checked my owners manual and looked at the diagram for the control box. And just as you stated under the key is an accessory port. I'm asumimg this is the port you are referring too. Seems pretty simply to hook up and install if that's the case. Will just need to find the proper connector for that port and go from there. Thanks for the help.

You can also buy a self contained unit that just wraps around a plug wire and has a small display that you can stick to the motor. I bought one of these when I was looking for the optimum prop for my 30 Nissan. It also contains an hour meter (which is likely of little value for your application) . I forgrt the brand name but it shouldn't be hard to google/ find here.
