Ok just recieved my electric starter, bracket and solenoid to turn my 78 25hp johnson manual start into electric. Few Q's- First do i need the neutral start switch to be wired up or is that mostly for a remote setup? And if i do need it how and where do i mount it. I have a manual but it doesn't show where to put it and how to connect it. Secondly will i still need my kill button that is currently on the motor or will the new push button be the start and kill together? aNd lastly where do you run the battery cables from the motor to the battery? Do you have to cut a hole in the motor? Thanks for help in advance!

Re: Adding electric start

it might have a plate on the front lower cowl, that can be removed for the cables. you still need kill switch, as start button only engages the solenoid. i would not be without a neutral switch. if you have to drill a hole, find a rubber gromet, to fit it first, you don't want 12 volts sparking. i'm at a loss about the neutral switch.

i edited your title to try to get more help.
