I have a 1979 Johnson 35 hp engine model 35E79A. How do I add a techometer and temperature gauge to the engine? Can I also add a water pressure gauge to monitor if the water pump is working? Thanks.

Tach is the gray wire in the cable coming from the red large plug which connects to your shifter control box. temp guage you can tie in to the tan wire which goes to your warning if equipped, or find the temp sensor on the cylinder heads. A water guage is also very helpful. Tee off the water pee hole.

Unfortunately, you can't mix the uses on the tan wire leading from the temperature switch with the temperature gauge tan wire; you will need to run another wire and attach a separate sensor.

Here is a link to the Teleflex Trouble Shooting page with the Installation instructions available in the right hand column: Scroll Down when opened:

Iboats is a major retailer of these gauges.
