adding gauges

i have a 1977 merc 50 hp serial #4578459 i am wanting to install atemp gauge and water pressure gauge where would i install these in the motor, also i want to add a tach do aftermarket tacks come with the harness for installing into the control port on throttle housing MANY Thanks

Look on the waterjacket around the spark plugs for a brass plug. if you find one, that is the place to install the water pressure gauge. If not avail, put a brass tee into the port that holds the telltale elbow, and install the gauge tube on one side and the telltale on the other side of the Tee. A water temp gauge is useless since the motor doesn't have a thermostat.

Merc may have the three prong plug for the merContol Tach harness. They do not come with aftermarket tachometers.

Haness may be found at your local Merc Dealer. I never needed to buy one, so I do not know for sure. A standard aftermarket Tach should work with your motor.
