I have an 1987 30HP Evinrude Model# E30TELCUB on my old pontoon that I purchased and am refurbishing. It has a push button electric start on the outboard and I would like to take it up to the console on my pontoon. The concept seems easy enough to take the two leads on the back of the push button to the console and then add the ignition switch. I do not really want a push button on the console for safety and some level of security, so looking to use a keyed ignition switch.
From what I can gather by looking at my motor is has two coil packs, and if I understand what I have been reading on the forum that means it is not a magneto start, so my question is what type of ignition switch do I need. I am looking at the Sierra MP39200 that iboat has that says it is for distributor/electronic ignition (non-magneto) and uses a solenoid.

It shows battery, ignition and solenoid connection tabs on the back of the switch, and I will only have two wires coming from the push button start on the outboard. So if I have the correct switch I would use the battery and solenoid tabs for my two wires from the push button start on the outboard, am I correct? Also, can I use the ignition to wire my accessories to the battery so they will work while the motor is running? I would need the accessory option to wire them to to work when the motor is not on, correct?
