adding power steering to an alpha 1?

Has anyone done it? Is it that hard? I'd feel better about my wife driving while dragging me behind the boat if it wasn't so hard to turn while running at speed.

Seems like it would be fairly simple if I could find all the parts from a junk donor boat...

Re: adding power steering to an alpha 1?

I did some more search around the forum. It appears that adding power steering would not be that easy. If I can find a junk boat for free/really cheap that has power steering I will try to make the change, otherwise I'll just live with it.

The wheel turns freely and everything when not moving, but if you're hard into the throttle when turning its pretty difficult to straighten the wheel...

Not particularruly difficult if you get all the parts

Pump, bracket, hoses, oil cooler and power assist ram. Your steering cable slides into the power steering and the power steering mounts exactly where the old cable mounted. Just attach the pins to the cable end and steering lever.
