Adding Power tilt / trim

I am looking at buying a boat which includes a 1989 Force 50hp motor. The boat is perfect, and the motor is in great shape, but does not have power tilt/trim. This is something that could make or break the deal for me, as I use power tilt and trim a lot. I noticed on e-bay that I can buy an oem tilt/trim unit for that motor. Or I can buy the CMC after market unit which is like a jackplate.

So my question is, can I buy an oem unit even though the motor did not originally come with power tilt, and how hard would it be to install?

And, how hard is it to install the CMC type of unit?

I would greatly appreciate any tips or advice, before I make my purchase……

Thanks!

Yes you can install an OEM TNT even though the motor didn't originally come with it. Remove your transom brackets and replace them with the TNT transom brackets. That's it, one bolt.

You may want to remove the manual reverse latch and manual tilt lock hardware from your existing motor and discard it.
