Bunky, We will need the year of the motors to know what PTT unit it has. The early ones had bolt on trim cylinders and the pump mounted in the boat. They were simple to install.

Unbolt motor off power tilt trim unit, unbolt the manual motor from it's manual unit, bolt the motor you want on the power tilt and trim unit, go boating with a smile on your face! I even did a 1964 4cyl Merc 650, onto a 1974 Merc 650 three mount and it bolted right up so I had a 1964 Merc 650 4cyl with power tilt and trim! And a manual POS 3 cyl 1974 Merc 650 which I sold......quick.

Re: Adding power trim ?

both the Motors Are 1974 850 Mercury's

From what I can tell you just remove the stabilizers (shocks) and mount on the power trim, But we questioned if the Clamp units were the same on the power trim and a non power trim...

what do you do about the Locking mechanism on the non PT unit and the strap with they also just swap out ??

OK, the motors are identical, so if you simply unbolt the non power tilt one from the main mount, then bolt it to the power tilt main mount it will be a power tilt trim unit. The removal of the power tilt actuators is not necessary and is more work.

Bunky, You need to remove the shocks from the manual tilt motor. Now bolt on the PTT brackets on the upper shock mount. Now bolt the PTT cylinders and hoses to the bracket and lower shock mount. Install the pump and resvoir in the boat, and route the hoses thru the splashjwell and connect to the pump. Now bleed the unit.
