adding tilt and trim

Hey guys i picked up a untouched for it life 1972 70hp chrysler now im looking at adding tilt and trim to it as it only has yhe manual adjust.. The trim unit im looking at is from a 1987 120 force.. Will this work on my motor. Its a great price 100.....

It will bolt right on. HOWEVER: I recommend using the black clamps. I think your 1972 clamps MAY have only onetransom mounting bolt hole on the bottom leaving no adjustment upwards on the transom. Additionally, the black clamps DO have provision for the steering cable. It is a much better system that using the transom mounted steering cable.

the system in picture should fit your engine. Although from pictures, I would make sure the system in picture works. It looks like it is missing the cable grommet for motor ... water inside motor = bad motor. Also, system still mounted onto complete transom clamps is a red flag. As often as not, it means that the previous owner was unable to get it off due to galvanic corrosion. make sure that both upper and lower mounting shaft can be driven out with moderately light taps of a mallet.

there doesn't appear to be galvanic residue. it could just be that the motor is broken and the guy couldn't figure out how to remove system with broken motor. I would check it out. Systems with galvanic corrosion are bad news.
