Has anyone used one of these "Adjustable Length V Belts"?

An example of these Adjustable Length V Belts can be found below and then clicking on the "Adjustable Length V Belt" icon.

The belt broke on my OMC 185hp 800 Sterndrive and I really do not want to remove the Trim Motor just to replace a broken belt. And no, there is no "spacer" I can simply remove to replace the belt.

They are very expensive but will work fine.

I would use those adjustable belts as an emergency fix only. Fix it properly and add a second belt zip tied off to the side so that you can put it on in case of an emergency.

Another use for them is to get the length of a belt needed if you do not have the specs or are re-arranging stuff.

Thank you. I was hoping someone had actual personal experience with them.

Expensive? I noticed an add on IBoats where they sell them for almost 10X what other sites sell them for. I bought 1 traditional belt at Napa for $19 and just ordered 1 Adjustable Belt (4ft) for $28. The adjustable belts are supposedly stronger, less vibration and do not stretch like traditional belts. Considering the time and hoops one must jump through to change a belt on a 1978 OMC 185hp 800 Series, the extra 10 bucks sure seems worth it. Ill let you guys know how it lasts.

Ps. I am new to boating and find it amazing that the boating community would take advantage (overpricing) of other boaters like that.

We have a several saw mills that our company sells them to. They will only used this style due to all the water they use for cutting. They say that these belts can run with water spraying all over them and not slip. They are a very strong belt.
