50 ETLK 6H5 L 412845 - Yamaha OEM manual states to adjust the oil pump to the carb at WOT. My question is regarding the oil pump lever postion. Forward towards the carbs is max oil pump at Wot? Picture is unclear and description is dark and inconclusive. Oil pump lever swings forward(towards the carbs) and back (towards the head). Is forward max oil pump at WOT? Need to know before next outing. Have been using premix 50 : 1 in the meantime. Nylon connector was broken so I do not know original adjustment. Thank You for your replies they are greatly appreciated.

beats me, I cant remember.
open the throttles to the WOT position, thread the connector on the oil control rod so that the arm is the correct distance from the stopper.mark the oil tank and go play using premix until proper operation is verified.
I cant remember if the 50 used index marks or arm to stopper clearence, thats why I use the manuals.

Rodbolt Thank You, I appreciate your imput. I will continue to use a premix. I would like to figure this out though so that I am not loading up the engine with too much oil. At some point I imagine this will become an issue. (Too much carbon buildup ,fouling plugs ect.).The lever stops all the way forward and of course all the way back. There is also a straight up position which has a mark on it. The Yamaha OEM manual is really vague and only states to adjust the pump at WOT.Duuuhhhhh. Thanks Yamaha!

On most Yamahas, the oil pump wide open is the direction it will go when the pump arm is disconnected. This is a safety measure in case the arm is disconnected.

Which is what occurred with this engine as the nylon connector broke. What a smart feature. I love it.When released from the pump arm the lever seems to sit in a straight up position rather than forward or back. There is some spring action which seems to make this position default so to say. At a fast idle using premix fuel with the oil line disconnected from the top carb will I be able to notice significant difference in oil output by working the oil pump lever forward and back?

Doubtful. At best it is more like a drible than a spray.

Thats what I witnessed, which is good.It had me concerned that the pump was not delivering enough oil.The manual depicts a spray but I have found the manual to be quite vague. So really my question has been answered.Just for curiousity sake then, does the pump just deliver to the carb and vacuum takes over from there?

Ray and Rodbolt Thanks you again for your time and answers.
