Hey all
I have a 1989 four winns 210 horizion with a 5.7l 260hp omc with cobra outdrive. I have had it about six weeks n have some engine work on it, I finally got to take it out last friday everything was fine till u got out of the no wake zone. Starts and idles fine goes n gear fine its just after you rev the engine to take off you start having problems. It starts missing n back fording thru the carb. I have put new points, wires, plugs, cap'n rotor, condencer. I have set the dwell to 29 deg. as the manual says and got the timing set to 8 deg. btdc. Now when you start it everything is fine till about 2300 rpms then back to rough running and poping n backfireing thru carb!!! When I had the distributor apart I noticed one of the advance springs were broken!! The other worked fine.
Does this sound like what my problem is?? When it should advance the timing it isn't??? What do y'all think my problem may be???

What about it piping thru the carb? And backfireing thru the carb? Those arnt fuel issues are they I thought they were more along the lines of timin.

Lean condition.

You do need to fix your distributor. Here is the advance curve for it.
