Does anyone know if the Commander 12 6 person boat uses the same motor mount as the Sevylor Fish Hunter boat? And is one better than the other (Sevylor Fish Hunter or Commander 12)

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

I know nothing of the Commander 12, 6 person boat, but do have a Sevylor HF 360, their '6 person' boat, and would be happy to answer any questions you might have on that. Just fire away.

Re: Advanced Elements Commander 12 6 Person Inflatable Boat

Hey CopperFox, thanks for replying.....I have an opportunity to pick up the Commander 12 made by Advanced Elements but for the life of me I cannot find anywhere on the internet to pick up the optional motor mount. The link to the boat is http://www.airkayaks.com/products/Friday-Harbor-Commander-12-Fishing-Dinghly-%2d-FH302.html

It looks and has the same feel as the Sevylor HF 360, so was hoping/wondering if it uses the same mount. The HF 360 is also an option for me, but for now I can get the Commander 12 for a better price and since they seem so much the same I'm leaning toward the Commander.....for now.

Diamond67,

Based on that link, I agree, it does have the same look as the Sevylor model. The bow has more point, which presumably would make it go through the water a little better. An important feature is that it has Boston Valves. Sevylor used to use them, but has recently changed to something that looks good but is poorly designed. I can't tell whether the material is as thick or not. Both come with 2 inflatable seats. The inflatable floor of the Sevylor is fairly rigid, which is a plus, though I have made a wood floor for mine.

I followed your link and got to a section that has the manuals for each product. I believe the FH in the model number stands for Friday Harbor, who's name ia all over the very short manual. They have a toll free number in it (888-545-1424) and encourage calling with questions. You may want to check with them on the motormount. From the photos, the places where the motor mount mounts to the boat look to be the same.

The price I am seeing is $269. You should be able to get the Sevylor for much less than that - check out Amazon.

Good luck.
