advanced throttle only

Okay, i've taken apart my mecury/quicksilver classic 3000 throttle to fix up some trim wiring and have put it all back together. I am now having "issues" with the "advanced throttle only" button. The throttle arm is now stuck in neutral unless I press in this button.--and will pop back out when I hit neutral. I am not sure what this button is for..... i'm guessing idling. How do I get it back so the throttle will advance without pressing in this button?? (Did I re-install the arm wrong with the button?)<br /><br />thanks,<br />vicar101

the button release's the shift cable mechanism<br />from the throttle lever when pushed in.<br /><br />it should pop back out when you come back to neutral..<br /><br />the throttle cable only should move when button is depressed..<br /><br />your problem is in the shift cable mechanism if <br />throttle appears stuck without depressing the button....
