Advice needed on possible boat purchase

I am looking at a 1989 Blue Fin Spectrum with a 85hp Force motor. The boat is in really good shape for its age is a perfect starter boat for my young family. The only hesitation I am having is due to a small leak in the keel. Owner claims to have had the boat out multiple times and had no issues. Should I steer clear or is this a fairly easy repair. Owner claims to know where the leak is at but hasn't provided any pictures of it yet. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Leaks frequently mean wet and/or waterlogged foam, plus rotten wood, and in a boat that old I would expect this to be an issue even without a leak.

Is it Aluminum or fiberglass? (I'm not sure)

I would be weary to buy anything that leaks. Why hasn't the owner attempted to fix if it's something that's an easy fix? How much is he asking?

What about the engine? Recent service? Fuel Lines look good? Oil injected or oil/gas mixed? Compression test?

With any boat always do a sea trial before buying if you can. See for yourself how bad it leaks.

If your just starting out with boating I would look for an issue free boat so you can enjoy it more instead of worrying about the leak.

So the floor probably did become wet and soft, make sure he did the replacement with the right wood and correctly.

Still check the foam, it can add several hundreds of pounds. And check the wood in the transom.

Force motors aren't made anymore, and while most parts are still available, many (most) places won't work on them.
