Advice on renting slip

I am thinking about renting a slip for my small Fishing Boat. This is the first time I am going to do this and would like to know how others handle keeping batteries charged, (no outlets on slip), and any other consideration. I plan on going out at least once or twice per week, if not more. Any advice on doing this would be appreciated. Thank you.

No juice at dock , solar charger , jumper box and or a extra battery fully charged stored on board. Do you run downriggers , electric plane reel , a lot of electronics ? Outboard or I/O ? Generally speaking a outboard.charging system.is nothing like a I/O ,straight inboard

2 biggest issues-
Covering a boat in the water can get pretty old. So can fixing them because they've sunk due to leaks or lack of pumping out after an extended rain.

Dry storage not a bad plan....

Thank you. I run an outboard 60hp Mercury. One Engine battery, one battery for 12v trolling motor. Not much electronics. No downriggers. What is a jumper box? I plan to cover it after every use, if I can not get a covered slip.

Jumper box's come in a couple sizes and are sold online, Wally World and Auto Parts store. They range in size from the size of a 2-3" thick cell phone to a women's purse . They are good for 10-20 jumps depending on size and amperage. For what you have the smaller one will work and if you want to use it in the off season for your car I would suggest going for the mid range amperage models. Google it for more info or pictures.

Thank you again. I did google it and realized what it was and I have one already for my vehicles. I'm going to make a decision soon, still unsure. Thank you for the help. I'm kind of new at having a boat that has a motor over 9hp

Your outboard won't output much power, certainly not enough to recharge a dead trolling battery. So unless you can get slip power, you are going to be transporting the trolling battery home to recharge it.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking. Shouldn't have any concerns on the Engine Battery right?

Option 1:
Pay the marina. (every year)
Pull the $1000 depth finder, the ignition key, the envelope with the "papers" and store in the trunk of the car.
Put the cover on, all the time hanging over the sides struggling with the snaps with arthritic fingers.
Worry every time it rains real hard or the wind blows.
Just before going fishing, do the reverse and figure out where to store all the wet canvas.
In the Fall, pay someone to clean the hull, shine the brightwork, etc.

Option 2:
Pay the boat dealer to sell you a launching trailer. (one time cost)
Easy peasy at the launch ramp, solo or with the family.
Put the boat in the garage and casually throw the cover over her to keep her clean (also easy peasy)
Casually wipe her down and keep her clean and looking like new as time permits.
Charge the battery any time you want, like just before you go back out.
In the Fall, do maintenance on the hull.....err, never mind, doesn't need any.

Been there, done that. The "work" required to keep the boat at the dock greatly exceeds the time and effort to launch and retrieve.

Lazy man's plan - Dry storage.
1. Call the marina an hour before you want to use the boat. They'll have it in the water waiting when you get there.
2. Commit to the act of boating
3. Return to the slips or dock reserved for dry storage boats.
4. Marina pulls boat and puts it away for you.

THAT'S "easy peasy".

And many times it's less than the price of a slip.

I've got a 29ft timber boat in a marina berth,
it's only got the min required electrics , nav lights/ anchor lights etc etc
ONE VHF and one electric dunny ( toilet ) and TWO bilge pumps, one of which activates every hour or so
( l mentioned it was timber, right? )

House and start battery,
It has two solar panels with controller, which atm are keeping the house battery topped up,
As we are about to start winter down here l'll take a battery charger down once a fortnight to give it a helping hand,

I don't have permanent power in the poverty pack section of the marina but can use it casually
