I recently bought a 1990 Bayliner (with a Force 120 hp L-drive) that had been parked since 2006 because the trigger arm broke and the previous owner was unable to remove the flywheel to replace it. I removed the flywheel and discovered why the trigger broke. A couple of the plates on the center collar of the flywheel came off and wedged under the magnet and only allowed the trigger to move to that point. When the previous owner tried to force the throttle forward the trigger arm broke. I found a very good deal on a replacement trigger on e-bay ($5.00). Most likely I will replace the flywheel rather than repair it. (I also have a complete spare 1993 120 hp outboard powerhead). When all the mechanical work is finished I could use some sound advice about preparation and servicing (all new fluids) from someone who knows, before I start her up. Also, the fuel was emptied from the carb bowls when the boat was parked. I will be installing a new water pump before I launch her and will use muffs (very briefly) for the initial start-up. My main concern is lubing the cylinder walls of a motor that has been setting up for so long. I don't want to cause ANY internal damage because of ignorance...lol. I sure would be grateful for any helpful advice! Thanks
