after installing a 2000 Evinrude 35 hp tilt works won't crank

Installed a 2000 Evinrude 35hp 3 cyl with controls,
Shift/Throttle cables not installed, engine in neutral, controller in neutral, tilt works but will not crank.
Deadman installed, power to solenoid. Engine down, no water to unit as I just want to get it to crank, no gas, oiled cyl as it just came out of storage.
I do not have the under dash wiring installed so wires to Volt/Tach etc not hooked up. I should state it has external battery cables if that makes a difference. What am i forgetting?, Does the engine feed voltage back to controller ignition switch to start? Does the wiring harness require a power relay? Thanks for any help

Are you saying simply that the electric starter is NOT cranking the engine over?

On most models there is a fuse attached to the battery side of the starter solenoid that supplies voltage to the controller.

No, the starter is not cranking. also, will check for fuse tonight. i appreciate the assistance

Fuse that I found is good, to much electrical stuff under the hood, i need to get a good scematic. I have 12v to the starter but when I turn ignition key it does not energize the starter. I don't want to jump it as I may damage some electronics. Again, thanks

If you have proper voltage to the starter when you turn the key to the start position and the starter does not engage the flywheel, sounds like it is time to pull the starter and check it out.

I do have motor in neutral, could not locate switch at this time. Controller is also neutral but shift cable not installed. I'll test starter tonight and ignition switch. trying to locate a schematic now. Thanks

This makes no sense. You say you have 12 volts to the starter but the key doesn't energize it. Are you talking about the starter solenoid?

My mistake, 12v to solenoid, I'll check solenoid and starter

Which part of the solenoid? You will always have 12 volts where the battery connects. You need to know if you have 12 volts to the small terminal when the key is turned.

I found the issue, always simple! Opened controller to check key ignition and found the neutral switch unplugged I appreciate the help very much
