When I get started on rebuilding my 150 Merc, any advice as far as aftermarket parts, Wiseco pistons, bearings, etc? Good idea or not? Cost savings is significant, but is it worth the difference. Any brand names and or links to the products that ya'll use?

Re: After market vs. OEM parts

Srfshr; The aftermarket bearings you can get on screamandfly, as Clanton suggests, are pretty good. We use them and regularily test them for strength and hardness against our own special sizes. They're consistently good and their overall quality is just about as good as OEM at a fraction of the cost. They're certainly functionally adequate. I can help with bearing advice, but, someone else will have to help with pistons. Many pitfalls available there, mostly with poorly retained ring locating pins. Real mess when they get wayward!!! Good Luck on the rebuild. ;)
