I have 40 hp Suzuki four stroke on my 24 pontoon it always performed good but one day suddenly when i was cruising in 4-5 Thousand RPM it shut dawn on me. After 10 second it started again but it keep shut dawn. Long story short I took it to local dealer they looked at it and told me that Fuel line, high pressure pump, gas filter, and few more gas related parts need it to be replaced. They took old parts out they were very rusty lots of rust in them. Some how water got in them. After replacing all those parts for around $500 Plus $80 an hour for 9 hours labor i end up spending $1337.05 I picked up my pontoon and went to the closest boat ramp and drop it in the water. Sure enough about 4 minutes after cruising same problem happened. I called the dealer and spoke with the mechanic . He told me he would come and see it on the water. Came to the boat ramp checked few thing and find out that the low pressure pump was int pumping the gas to high pressure pump. He was very very sure that was our problem and told me that the only part he did not replace was the low pressure pump because he figured it was still good. Anyway we took the pontoon back and replaced the low pressure pump and i went back to the water again AND same thing happened. It will start good but it will shut itself off after 1 minute. I have spend $1500 dollar and i still have the same problem even with the brand new parts!!!
