I have a 2004 Volvo penta and need to replace the distributor. I have the old plastic type and the screw holes broke that hold on the cap. Has anyone tried the after market aluminum ones? Volvo wants $950 and the aftermarket is around $100.

Yes, the GM dizzy is a GM dizzy. Do make sure it comes with the cam sensor

On the other hand, the screws are metric, and can be re-tapped to next size up and use new screws. I did this with one side of my EST dizzy

Get a ac delco one. I think you’ve mayne beem quotes for a whole new distributor gear. Not just the cap. The branded OEM ones are expensive but not that expensive. They are about £100 here or likely $100 in the US. Aftermarket are just as useless as the OEM and mayne £20 cheaper.

I need the whole distributor gear not the cap because the holes that the 2 cap screws into on the distributor side have broken they cant be re-tapped. OEM is $950 aftermarket is $100 made with aluminum not plastic. I'm curious if anyone else has used them, big savings if there good.

Like All Dodge said, it`s just a GM distributor. No need to spend that much money for a VP brand. Take the one you have down to Napa and have them order you a new one.
