What are the differences (if any) in an OEM prop and an after market aluminum prop such as Hustler? I have a 1987 OMC 2.3L 4000RPM WOT. It has a 13-3/8 X 17 on it I was told I could go to a 15 pitch and get a better holeshot and a little more mph.

toby,

I do not know what kind of boat this is on, but 4000 rpm at WOT is too slow for that engine. You should be able to hit 5500 rpm-MINIMUM.. RUNNING IT TO SLOW LIKE THAT WILL KILL THAT ENGINE.

You can figure that each inch of prop. pitch is worth about 200 rpm, either way.

The boat is a 1987 VIP Vision 17' I might have stated the RPM wrong, should I be looking at the RPM range WOT fully trimed?
