Having not been able to locate a factory Trim/Tilt unit for my Yamaha CV85 (a 90hp would fit)...So...I'm looking at the aftermarket ones from CMC and Panther.

I know nothing about the CMC units but I have heard good things about OTHER products from Panther.

Does anyone have experience with either of these units and which one is judged the best?

Thanks,
Terry B.

Re: Aftermarket Trim/Tilt units

I have had a CMC130 on my 115 Johnnie for over a year and works just fine and was easy to install and wire.

However, it does stall on trim at WOT before the prop looses bite.

They claim that it increases performance and manuverability. I did not notice any improvement in speed and the motor is position where the cavitation plate is just below the surface on plane. I might try kicking it up a notch to see if that makes a difference.

Since the CMC places the motor 5-6 inches aft of transom. This could put an "S" bend in the steering cable on some motor well arrangements.

The CMC comes with my highest recommendation, I have run mine for 7-8 years in all weather(105-18 degrees) conditions and it has worked flawlessly.

They are a little pricey but they do what they are suppose to and you can get the best deal on one right here at iboats.
