I am having a heck of a time trying to find an affordable wakeboard with XL or XXL bindings (6'5" 210lbs). I have never wake boarded and I'm not sure I will even like it and do not want to drop big money on one until I know. I found a great deal on a left oveer board for my wife and kids last fall. It was an 134 Airhead with bindings for $56.99. But anything I find is like $350 and up.

I can get a CWB Faction 144 with Vapor bindings for $233. But it is an agressive board for intermediate to advanced riders. I don't want to get something that is going to be hard to learn how to wakeboard.

Any thoughts?

Ever consider finding a place that rents boards to try it out?

Don't know if there is a place like that around you, but when I was in to wake boarding, my cousin would rent boards from a local shop. Whats good about that is the shop can match the board to you both in skill level, foot size, and weight. If it's not your cup of tea, you give the board back.

When I was wake boarding, I had (and still do) a Liquid Force Rhythm 147. It was a good beginners board, and a big board to get my fat @** out of the water :D. Looking at the liquid force web site, it seems like the "Trip" is the closest thing they have to my Rhythm now.

Good Luck!

Liquid force groove is like 250 i think. Still a little pricey for someone who doesn't know if they'll stick with it. I'd suggest buying used, get a craigslist board and buy new bindings. You can get XL (size14) liquid force bindings (forget the model name) a few model years old for under 100 bucks thehouse.com and go to the outlet part of the website. Most sizes are either S or XL so youre in luck. Chances are if you are an avid boater and your kids are riding then you'll stick with it, so long as you dont get too sore haha

I am a beginner, and i just bought the liquidforce groove + hyperlight focus bindings from evo for $255 for both. Was clearance and last years model. they have a chart too to show you what bindings will fit on different boards, some are 6" and some are 8" between bolts on either side of bindings. also, some have 4 pairs of holes and some have 3 pairs of holes on the boards, but that doesn't matter if it will fit or not.

i've only used the groove once so far, but i am extremely happy with it.
