I have an imported air compressor (direct drive) that requires N32(winter) and N63(summer) "machine lubricating oil".

Can anyone translate as to what is the best type of standard petro based, or synthetic compressor oil, would work best in this unit?

Re: Air Compressor Oil

mscher I can't translate that. But down here all of mine get changed to 30 weight non-detergent. Triple cyl. and single cyl. Hope this helps.

the N is likely 'non-detergent' but not certain.... the 32' and '64' are the ISO viscosity numbers of a single grade/viscosity oil - in centistokes.... measured at 40C. they translate roughly to a 10w for the 32 and 30 for the 64.... but they are not automotive interchangeable. Oil companies use the same numbering system for certain transmission/hydraulic oils that contain additives. Find a oil that is labeled for compressor use.

Personally, I would break in the compressor on the 'petro based' oil and switch to the synthetic later.... if the compressor is new.
