Air Compressor switch Voltage

My air compressor is currrently set up for 230V, with a 2HP motor.

I'm thinking of temproarily contverting it to a 2HP 120v motor ( i found a good 120v compressor motor).

Will the pressure switch need to be different too?

Are pressure switches rated by voltage, since the air pressure is doing the switching?

Granger does not list voltages in the switch specs, only max amps.

Re: Air Compressor switch Voltage

Please, please explain in as detail how you shop is wired and how you plan to run a 120 volt line before you go any further. From another post you described your wiring as archaic. I would like to know the size of the service feeding your garage...does it originate from a panel in your house and if so what size fuses or breaker is it tied to. What type of circuit panel do you have in the garage? Try to give me as much detail as possible. As far as the pressure switch look at the nameplate, there should be a voltage, amps, and Hp rating.

Re: Air Compressor switch Voltage

Thanks for the input, everyones

The motor change appear to be a moot point anyway.

The motor, appears to have a custom "Sears-only" mounting plate to the compressor, with a large pivot pin and a threaded tensioner at the end.

Looks like plan A wins.
