Alright spring is here and my rude doesn't like heat to much. It started doing the same garbage it was doing last year. I believe i've gotten to the root of the problem though. I start it up on muffs and watch the clear see thru plastic transition fitting that goes from the 3/8 hose to the 5/16 on the inside. Anyway there is a section about two inches long that you can watch the fuel go through. Well it stays solid for a minute then sucks a bubble through it. Goes solid again and just keeps repeating the process. I also notice it takes a sqeeze and a half or two to get the bulb back hard before i run to my next spot. I'm going to try a 6 gallon tank to see if the problem continues. I think it might be the pickup tube in the tank, it seems to vent fine because the bulb doesn't collapse. Puzzling thing is i've took the tube out before and checked for cracks, nothing visible. I blew through it and could not find a leak. I took the vro off once and put a fuel pump on it, it did the same thing. I know air in the fuel isn't good i got to fix this asap.

I'm working through a similar issue on a smaller motor - and I'm pretty sure I was getting air into my line from a crack in a fuel line up in the motor - not sure how it would end up back in the bulb on the tank, but that is what it seemed like was taking place; maybe the pressure in the line has some effect - anyway; I'd make sure to check all the gas lines up inside the motor as well. Maybe you could try a spare tank also to rule the line in the tank out?

Alright tried a different tank today. Still seeing air bubble in clear transition fitting. Bled it off at fuel filter and still had air bubble in line. Could it be the vapor pump? I was noticing the pulse hose that connects to the vapor pump and the crankcase vent had smoke coming out of it, possibly fuel but it looked like smoke. I would point my finger at the vro pump, but as i said earlier i tried a fuel pump on it and had same problem last year. Crankcase seal bad? I'm drawing straws again.

I ended up having two carb bowls that were sucking air. Vro had a couple of bad o rings and i replaced every clamp on the vro. Seems to have fixed this problem. I've run it on muffs several times now and seeing no air bubbles. I hope this has fixed my problems for good, been chasing this thing for over a year now. Anyone experiencing similar problems make sure all your clamps are tight and all of you carb bowl gaskets are sealed tight, might make a huge difference and remedy those supposed heat soak problems. I get the feeling this has been my problem all along, simple fuel starvation. I wish it would stop raining so i could test it. I don't like the heat, but i kind of hope its at least in the 80's when i take it out so i can get a good test out of it.

I'll report back and see if this fixed it when i test, i have a pretty good feeling that i've solved this problem. Here's to hoping.
