Air Intake Box

1995 Mariner 90 2 stroke (serial number 0G242454). I noticed the air intake box over the carbs had little access holes with covers over each carb, Mine is missing the cover on the top one. Should that be covered as well? What are the holes for

I would say yes. Its part number 42969A3 (Attenuator) and if searched on there are some for sale showing all plugged. There to lessen the sound you hear. Won't hurt anything if missing so long as cowling is installed

if it bothers you, those pvc cap plugs are under a buck from McMaster Carr

If you see the carb throats thru the holes, they are for fogging the motor. I put a piece of duct tape over them after fogging is complete.
