Air Intake

Does anyone know if there is any sort of filter I can put on my air intake system in a 1985 Evinrude 90hp? Thanks.

Why? The is no dust or dirt on the water. Outboards have ducted intake silencers only and I/O engines have flame arrestors. Neither require a filter.

It is all gritty. There is dirt that is getting in there somehow.

Does your boat sit outside all the time and are you close to a dusty road?

Nope, it's covered. I even found some hair from my dog in there.

If the powerhead base gasket is blown, you may accumulate dirty exhaust residue inside the cowling. Any chance that some mice have taken up residence over the winter?
