air intake

when running the engine it runs sluggish unless i open the door on front of the hood then it runs fine. what's causing this? also what is the correct point setting? the engine is a 60's model 35 hp johnson super seahorse

Hi Groundhog<br />Post your model# so we can tell what motor we're talkin about. Sounds like you may have an exhaust leak.
