Been watchin' news reports on that most of the morning. Details still aren't out, but several lives lost and several unaccounted for (not necessarily missing). Thirty-five boats lost. The photos are pretty wild.

redneck joe - any of your people in that marina?

I heard most are house boats, don't really know what the live aboard is like there but it's just sad to see the loss of life and the amount of destruction

Yes ---It is very sad.----But will happen again.-------Docks develop / expand over time.---Only one way on or off.---No escape route or plans---No smoke alarms required ------Boats with 100 gallon fuel tanks and open vents.-----Live-aboards with perhaps barbeques on docks near open fuel vents.----Sad , but no surprise.

Wow this has me concerned about our neighborhood marina. No one grills on their boat that I know of but one boat on fire would take out a whole row.

I would think that the fire might have stated with trying to keep the boat warm, in that part of the country it' not warm this time of year so if your living aboard you need heat. Not a lot of insulation in house boats. It just makes it all that more important to keep all the systems aboard in good working order, Still a very tragic situation

the only ones we knew were, but not on the boat at the time. theirs was one of the 35 lost. Unfortunately our friend from our marina did lose his son.

small update; turns out Tommy was there, on his brothers boat (not son) and brother didn't make it. Tommy was able to jump in the water.

Our condolences to the friends and families of all that lost their lives. . It makes you think when a tragedy like this occurs as to what's important in life. No one wakes and thinks this is my last day on Earth. This is the 1st I've heard about this and I'm a news junkie. All channels including here in Canada are all about the impeachment proceedings or the corona virus.

Sorry to hear that Joe. Condolences to the family. Sobering for all, and hard to grieve through for those close to the family.

Wow that is bad, I don't know I've ever heard of a marina fire like that around me. Sad to see the lives lost and damaged as part of this.

I read today 4 of the 8 lives lost were children. Man no words. I know many here live or at least overnight on their boats during the boating season, maybe some longer. It made me think about friends that do the same thing. Cruisers, Houseboats and Cuddy's generally have 1 way in and 1 way out. Do you have a fire warning and escape plan in place?
