Re: alarm help please

Intermittant alarm is an oil alarm. A shop manual might help. You say the oil res on the engine is not full. Is the boat mounted tank full AND the cap tight? Hose clamps on tank fill tight if you have a remote fill point? Tank holding pressure?

The alarm is not just for oil level, but also pump driven shaft rotation. Is there oil in the oil pump discharge line?

Could be a sensor, but most likely not. Also, the pump itself rarely fails.

The electrical line for the sensor in the onboard
tank is only about 12 inches long and goes along the right side of the engine as you face it with the cowling off the engine. It is a quick disconnect type fitting, disconnect it and see if the beeping goes away, if so figure out why the float/sensor is not working. They are about $50. You have to replace the entire cap. The caps has a tendency to break at the top thread if it is on TOO! tight. Easy to check and no cost involved.

is the alarm solid or beeping? if you suspect the float in the engine oil tank-simply remove the cap and check the float in your hand. kiss
