Hi All,
I see there are many posts with smilar topics but i'm stumped and need some brilliant advice. i have a 2010 Mercruiser 3.0 she is running fine but when I was out today i got a long 5 second beep alarm, and now a short beep every 60 seconds. This continues at this time, even after starting and stoping the engine. Oil pressure and engine temp appear fine from the gauges, and I checked the gear lube oil, and even topped it off (it was a tad bit low). The issue continues. With the holiday weekend I"m sure i"m not going to be able to get any one to look at it so figured I'd ask here, hoping to not lose the entire weekend.

THanksl

Howdy

The signal beep is not a normal sound. The motors either have a solid beep or 2 beeps every 60 seconds.

When the long beep sounded, how fast were your running?

I was at headway speed....And when I first turn the key without cranking the engine, it sounds for more than the standard beep. It then switches back to the short beep every 60 seconds.

thanks,
Andrew

While the single beep is not normal, the number one failure item is the water pressure sensor. While the beep is going on, do you have anything else that is not normal? Any reduction in power or other?

If it goes to a solid beep at high rpms then I would think the water pressure sensor, but so long as it does the single beep, and you have no access with a motor scanner (holiday weekend) then guess just run it and keep an eye on the gauges

a single beep every 60 seconds must mean something, I wish I hat a motor scanner, but I don't think there are any open mechanics on a holiday weekend

On the 3.0 of that year, isn't it just a solid a beep key on til oil pressure gets up there and then just a solid warning beep or oil pressure, temp, drive oil?

I thought so but all those seem fine so I'm afraid to run her not knowing what the issue is....

If we had the serial number me could look up your motor, but being a 2010 year, I'm thinking its an MPI. If this is the case the only way to know what's causing it would be to have the motor scanned for codes. Something that could cause it would be a weak battery, check to see if it is in the 12.4V or more. Check it after it has sat not running and not on a charger for at least 2 hours

Yeah it is an MPI....I guess I need to wait until the weekend is over and wait for a repair shop that can read the codes. I believe my multimeter fried so I guess it's a waiting game at this point. I don't want to risk doing any damage to the engine.

Still waiting the shop to have time to look at it and run the codes, but it seems to be running absolutely fine, not indicaitons of any problems....It's very frustrating when the weather is so nice.
