I installed a new side mount remote control and new 8 pin harness to my 1998Merc Tracker 40 hp outboard. When I turn the ignition on I get a constant high pitched alarm at the control. This happens when the motors cold or hot, running or not. I have disconnected the wires for the low oil and the high temp alarms to check if that was causing the problem, and still it sounds. I am baffled. The motor has tilt and trim that works fine. There are switches at the motor and at the remote. It is electric start. I would appreciate any help.
