alaskan combo question....

New guy here. I am really close to pulling the trigger on an '04 1800ss Alaskan. I want to duck hunt and fish with it replacing my alumacraft 1448mv. My question is what motor is sufficient for this boat? I am leaning towards a Merc 60 4 stroke. Is this worth the extra $$? Should I goto a 50 4 stroke? Thanks in advance. <br /><br />PS. Any other option suggestions would be appreciated also.

I would suggest getting close to the maximum horsepower rating for the boat. You get the best performance out of the boat and good resale value. I know several people who regret not "maxing out the HP" on a new boat purchase.
