yo man, took your advice, went and got a spanner type wrench and after applying liquid penetrant every day for three weeks..... added just a touch of heat...and whalah! waterpump impeller cover unspun with out any damage. used anti-seize compound, replaced impeller, rebuilt carb, now it "pee's " like a Russian racehorse, lol...thanks<br /> :D <br />Richard

Good Job Salty. Those can be a real problem. I guess the anti-seize ( the silver stuff) is ok, I use it too on a lot of things. On this item though I like to use a Merc product they call anti corrotion greese or prop shaft greese. I can't remember exactly. It comes in a tube, looks like vasoline. I moore in salt water. Years back I had a mark 55, has the same type water pump cap. It stuck up on me one time. I have used this stuff ever since. I have owned several boats since, inboards,I/Os and outboards. I have never had a stuck prop or a stuck anything else. With some of my larger boats they only got an annual haul out.
