I found the model number off of the mounting bracket to the transom:

J5667828

I have asked the boat several questions and she won't even tell me the size of the parasite on her back. I have a feeling that they were kind of stuck together. The idea is to make the relationship work, but I am going to need a little help here.

I found a new leak between the lower unit and the prop that decided to bleed all over my garage floor. How difficult is this going to be when changing it out and what is a good name of a marine shop chain that might have the part?

No pressure, Summer is coming!

More specific info, pics would be nice.

"a leak between the lower unit and prop" the lower unit constitutes half the engine so all we know is there is something leaking on the bottom half of the motor.

What is leaking, oil water,both?

Where specifically is it coming from again if you can put up a pic that would help.

It could be a major problem or nothing at all, more info.

The motor has set idle for 2 years and I verified that the electrical is sound. I think that I am running on one cylinder now. The leak that I was talking about turned out to be a lower unit oil leak. Thank you for your reply.

I think that I am going to have to run a new fuel line to both carburetors and change out the spark plugs. If the motor will not run good after that, I will start by completing a compression check on both cylinders to compare.

Any suggestions?

It is running pretty rough in idle but will ramp up to decent RPM's. I put it in the water and it felt like it was running on half the horse power. I never could get it on plane...

Thanks.

check compression, spark, on all cylinders, how old is the gas you are using? did you find out what model or year the motor is? that will help us a lot. psot your compression and spark results. READ the TOP SECRET FILE.
