Alha I to II conversion

When it comes to the point when outdrive needs to be replaced completely,
is it worth to get gen II instead of I? Are any advantages? Does bell housing need replacement as well?

No advantage really. They Alpha II's have an external oil reservoir that comes through the transom plate, into the bell housing and connects to the outdrive. I think that means you'd have to have all new Gen II plate and bell housing. They're both only rated for 300HP, so it doesn't really benefit you by upgrading.

Ayuh,...

The "Main" differences are as noted the Oil Resv., the Improved waterpump,+ the Shifting linkages....
In order to Swap,.... Everything from the rear motor mounts Back is replaced....
So,...
Unless your transom assembley is Rotted off,... No,.. I can't see any Advantages...
