alignment of mercruiser

if i just remove the out drive and not the gimbal housing, will i still need an alighnment tool after pulling the engine

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... The Alignment Bar is critical, Anytime the motor is moved on it's mounts...

It's also handy for Checkin' the alignment, annually...
