Alignment tool won't go into Gimbal bearing

I just installed a new gimbal bearing (SEI Marine) using a tool kit I got off eBay. I wanted to verify engine alignment, but the second shoulder of the alignment tool won't go into either the new gimbal bearing or the original. Am I missing something here, or is my alignment tool too big?

1998 Mercuriser 4.3 L Alpha one gen II.

If the tool won't go into the new or old bearing, then the tool was made incorrectly. Contact ebay and get your money back.

Yeah, I think you're right. I measured the diameter with calipers and got 34.6 (new) and 34.7 (old) mm for the ID of the bearings. The OD of the tool is 35.4 mm. Less than 1mm, but that makes a difference in this case.

Wasn't made right should be 34.925mm (1.375 inch)
