Alignment

I have a 1995 mercruiser and when reading about maintenance it mentioned alignment. What is being aligned? Is this DIY project?

Alignment is done between the outdrive and motor. The drive is removed and the alignment bar is inserted thru the gimbal bearing into the engine coupler. It should go in and out easy with just 2 fingers. If it does not then the front motor mounts need to be adjusted
