Yep, those were the days. One thing you forgot to add. That was Mom was always home. Both parents didn't have to work to support the household.<br /><br />Nice post-- ...SS

Me being a little kid in the early 90's, I still did some of that stuff......not all of it, but some. <br /><br />Their was 3ed grade when me and my friend thought it would be SO cool if we took my dads drill and put a whole on the spray paint can, that way we could get the little ball.....that plan backfired! My parents still won't let me live that one down<br /><br /> <br /><br />There was also 2ed grade when me and my friend (same one as spray paint) though it would be fun to throw crab apples at passing cars, well... my smart little buddy hit a unmarked cop car, and the cop ran faster then he did I watched as the cop put my buddy in cuffs and called his mom, me and him had some intersting playdates

Then there was the time my dad was charging an old 6 volt battery, the kind with the lead straps on the top. I wanted to see if I could melt the lead with his propane torch. DUMB....I lit the torch and proceeded to apply the flame to the lead strap, when there was a loud noise and my forehead was bleeding. Hummmmm...What Happened?...<br />That was my first experience with exploding hydrogen. The top of the battery blew apart and I caught a nice chunk of the casing on my forehead, just above the bridge of my nose. If it is what I think it is, did that also! Grabbed the bumper of a passing car (snow on the road) and slid along behind it, being careful that your feet did not hit any dry pavement or that your head came up high enough that you could be seen by the driver, who would probably freak out if they knew they had become a "tow vehicle." Great fun! Only a few scrapes and bruises!

and walking home from school at least a mile and feeling darn lucky when a car would stop and give ya a ride. Then filling the wood box and tending all the livestock, etc., BEFORE doing your homework, eat dinner, take a shower and go to bed.<br />I miss those "good ole days"

Ya thats it aspeck, just like you described it. <br />The roads were usually plenty slippery, some<br />times we'd lose the odd glove as it would freeze<br />or get caught on the chrome bumper.

Do you remember taking the rollers off your skates,then cutting a piece of wood and attaching them together. Cutting a piece of rope and let your friends drag you around on their bikes. I think they call em skate boards now. Lets not forget cutting some carboard up and with a clothes pin and attach it to your wheel spokes to let folks know you were around..In the old days we made do with what we could imagine and went from there..

Thumbs up, Good Post Speck n Reds, good memories! Also when the first petal fire engine cars came out, and you complained to dad it was broke, the award winning stories you'd hear about when he was a child, that he had to play with a steel rim and a Sick of wood, pushing the wheel around. Are having to walk 10 Miles to school, and happy to have shoes, because it was snowing, and Uphill (Both ways! ) <br /><br />My favorite was, boy your lucky to get to go to school, I had to work in the fields, and we'd take turns bringing homework to each other. <br /><br />Good Post, good memories!

Playing hooky from school to go fishing with your friends and not have the school calling your house to find out why you weren't there.<br /><br />Bringing your rifle to school and leaving it with the principal all day so you could go hunting after school.
