This question will separate the men from the boys
I have a Mercruiser 3.7 Out drive # 6754924 and need to change the Anoid/Trim Tab. The manual indicates an allen wrench but does not give the size. Any Takers? :p

If you have a standard set it will be the largest or the next size down.Good luck getting a hold on it to turn.Tough to get any leverage when you are turning the shorter side of the key. Charlie

Don't remember for sure but I believe Bo2 is right...3/8 I think will work. As far as leverage is concerned...put the long end into the hole and use the "box" end of a standard wrench to grab hold of the short end and you have an extension.

My 3.7 is a 3/8 Allen, as bo2 suggests, although I have personally seen smaller (1/4) ones used. This is usually the case if the bolt is not put in prior to re-assembly of the lower gear case. The 1/4 must be used if not put in prior to attaching the lower gear case because the head of the 3/8 will not fit through the adjusting hole which is part of the upper gear case assembly.

99% of the 1s I've taken apart are 3/8s allen head..... The other 1 was a 3/8s 12-point scokethead...
As stated above, a 1/2" box-end wrench makes a real good extention handle....
