allmand inflatable - rib

can anyone give some feedback on the allmand inflatable - rib .....they look good and are priced much lower than most other familiar names.....but i dont know much about them....

Welcome to the forums,

Allmand is supposed to have years of experience building standard non inflatables boats. Their inflatables ribs are build at Asian big factories, mainly use Korean or German thick 1.2 mm PVC fabrics or Hypalon, a matter to ask which Hypalon brand and if at least 1.0 mm would be just fine. Hulls are FRP molded and then hull and deck are glued together.

Which model are you interested in ? They have nice 12-14-15 Ft ribs. As usual if buying on line, who will stand for their warranty, if that's an issue to you and for your peace of mind, buy locally through a US dealership if they happen to have one.

I bought one.The guy told me it was made in USA. He had a Florida area code.Long story short China half the material thickness I paid for. Had to jump through hoops to get it. No hull ID#. Nightmare DO NOT BUY!

Did you have a look at rib before buying ? Besides fabric not being thick, probably was built with 0.9 mm fabric, what else do you dislike about the rib, which size was it anyway ? Can you post some pics.

Did not look at before purchase.Pictures on internet only.I paid for what was called 1.2mm upgrade.A professional surveyor measured it at .73mm. The size was a 270 around 9 feet.It was to be delivered to work where I had a fork lift. It was not.I had go to the shipper and pick it up.I also had to do some kind of power of attorney.The whole transition was uncomfortable.I got the credit company involved and got some money back. Also it took 2 months 11 days to get.I was told it was made in USA That is why I bought it. It was not made in USA.This is my third inflatable.

Just for the reccord. The sib bought is Hypalon or PVC fabric ? To get the point, small sibs/ribs are build with thin fabrics to reduce costs and more price attractive to clients. If Hypalon usually between 0.7/0.8 mm fabrics and 0.9 mm for PVC fabrics which are standard fabrics.

If wanting thicker Hypalon or PVC fabrics need to order same at factory, usually costs more. If it took so long to be delivered was made in Asia, that's the time it usually takes to build & ship to foreign countries. Make a formal complaint to Allman Company, receiving a rib with thin fabric you didin't pay for; a real commercial shame.
