Hello Fellow Merc Inliners(& V Owners),

I recently acquired a 1972 Merc 1150 Inline 6 on a '72 16 foot Tidecraft bass
boat(as some of you already know). I have been on the forums posting, reading, researching. I
bought a service manual from mercury and have actually been reading it.

I checked compression yesterday with a fully charged battery and have these
results: (1) 120 (2) 125 (3) 115 (4) 120 (5) 120 6 (119). The plugs look good
and I have not changed them. Should I?

I have only run it a few times on the muffs and it seems to run good and
strong. I bought some Seafoam to run through it, but haven't done it yet. I
am waiting for a used tilt motor and a prop to come in before I take it to
the water.

I plan on just backing it in the water and leaving it hooked up to the
trailer and see how it does under a load. (I talked to a previous owner of
this rig who says it always gave him problems on the water and could never
get it to run right). This man said he had put a lot of money into the motor
but didn't say for what.

The carb manifold looks like it has new orange gasket sealer around it like
it has been taken off before.

After I get my prop and tilt motor on I am taking it for a water test. Any
Advice is appreciated.
